The wedding weekend packing list
Packing for a wedding away from home, from the outfit that cannot wrinkle to the things you only miss at 11 p.m.
A wedding weekend is three trips in one: the travel, the events, and the downtime between them. The outfit is the part you cannot replace on the day, so plan around it first.
The outfit, protected
- The outfit, in a garment bag, carried on rather than checked when you fly
- Shoes you have already worn for a full evening
- A backup shirt or top, in case of a spill at the welcome dinner
- A small sewing kit, safety pins, and a stain pen
- A light layer for an outdoor ceremony or a cold reception hall
For each event
Weddings often come with a welcome dinner, the ceremony and reception, and a brunch. Check the dress code for each one on the couple's site or invitation, and pack one outfit per event, plus a casual set for the time in between.
The small things you miss late at night
- Phone charger and a power bank for the reception
- Cash for tips, valet, or a shuttle
- Pain reliever, bandages for new shoes, and any medications
- The address of where you are staying, saved offline
- A plan for the ride home, booked or agreed before the evening starts
The gift and the card
Ship the gift to the couple's registry address before you leave, and carry only the card. It is one less thing to carry and keep track of at the venue.
Put it into practice
Add the events as fixed times in the planner. The request it writes for your AI keeps them in place and asks for a plan around them, ride home included.
